What is Mesothelioma?
Mesothelioma, commonly known as asbestos cancer, is a rare form of cancer that is the result of exposure to asbestos, a fibrous material that was used in thousands of products until the 1980s. THE ONLY KNOWN CAUSE OF MESOTHELIOMA IS EXPOSURE TO ASBESTOS. Mesothelioma typically develops in the lungs or abdomen. There are over 2,000 new cases of mesothelioma diagnosed in the United States each year. Simply put, asbestos causes Mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is a type of cancer where tumors form in the lining of the lungs (pleura), abdomen (peritoneum), or heart (pericardium).
